Gamers are finally waiting for the release of this game. As it turned out, sometimes inexplicable things happen in it.
Biomutant was announced back in 2017. Is the first open world game of 2021 worth seeing? It is difficult to answer this question, because in addition to its advantages, Biomutant has many disadvantages, such as unpleasant bugs.
Apart from glitches, there are plot holes and annoying gameplay elements. Incomprehensible moments will drive any fan crazy. We warn you that there will be spoilers next.
Submission of the plot
The story is told from the perspective of the narrator, which is rather strange for an open world game. It’s not easy to dive into the plot when all NPCs are voiced by the same disembodied voice. But it looks like LittleBigPlanet, which also had a storyteller.
Photo mode errors
It is not as thoughtful as in Ghost of Tsushima, but it does its job. However, there are also certain problems here. In most games, when using the camera, the interface becomes invisible, but not in Biomutant. Therefore, the photo mode loses its meaning.
The world was destroyed, and humanity died, and the planet was inhabited by mutated animals. Thanks to the Tree of Life, the Earth became habitable, although some areas remained contaminated. You can only move on them in fur.
Great idea, but how does the robot protect the hero from toxic waste if the cockpit is open?
Another illogical point related to technology: it can only be summoned in infected areas, despite the fact that Biomutant is an open world game. On the one hand, this is done for balance, as otherwise the passage would be too easy. But the plot does not explain this in any way.
Is the antagonist so dangerous?
In the introduction, the hero escapes from a giant known as Lupa Lupine. At first, it’s unclear why he was chasing us. Here we are shown a flashback: it turns out that the giant destroyed the protagonist’s native village, killing his parents. The villain looks harsh, but is he much stronger than the rest of the enemies, especially the Tree Eaters? Of course, Lupa-Lupine can boast of his level. However, from the point of view of the plot, it is difficult to call him the most dangerous enemy.
The protagonist cannot swim
This is explained in the scene of his mother’s death. At that time, he was small, and therefore his mother ferried him on her back. It took a long time, so why didn’t he learn to swim? It is strange that he easily handles weapons, even a fur, but the water takes away all his strength. For most of the game, bodies of water are a death trap.
This is not some kind of serious flaw, but just a funny little thing. The crafting system doesn’t have to be like that. Some classes allow you to change the appearance of melee weapons: for example, you can create a sword with a wrench instead of a handle. How does it even work?
Biomutant uses the elements of “metroidvania”, but there were some problems here as well. There are devices for accessing new locations: using a fist to break through walls, and a pry bar, you can break a lock. After unlocking the fist, it becomes useless.
It’s strange that a rusty gate can be opened with a pry bar and not with a fist that punches through a wall. By the way, there are too few destructible objects in the game. The sequel should be developed by the creators of Red Faction.
Burn down the house for coal
Let’s talk about one illogical quest. The player will have to collect charcoal. To do this, you need to burn down the house. This is overkill, but let’s not quibble.
So, only coal was left of the building. But why can it only be collected in certain places? After all, there is charcoal lying everywhere, which we need on assignment.
They, like the plot, are implemented in a very strange way. As in many games, you need to go through training before starting the passage. So we got acquainted with the open world, and we are shown memories. They repeat what we have already learned. It would be wiser to start the game right away with a flashback.
