How to enable password lock on Android

Every year people are more and more responsible for their own security in the information space. In addition to using the most secure software, users try to use other means of protection to protect their personal data in the event that, for example, someone else gains access to a mobile device. One of the most common and effective means of protecting information stored in a smartphone is password blocking. In this case, having installed one, before each unlocking the phone, you will first have to enter a security code without fail, because without it, you will not be able to access any of the smartphone’s capabilities.

You can enable password or pattern lock on any smartphone model from any manufacturer, because Google added this feature to Android a long time ago. It is worth using this opportunity for every person who does not want someone outsider to easily unlock their phone and get access to all the content that it contains. Password locking helps protect your mobile device from unauthorized access, but you shouldn’t rely on it too much, because it does not encrypt the data inside the smartphone. Because of this, if necessary, the same special services will be able to read all the data that is stored on the mobile device in the built-in memory.

That is why you need to take into account that password lock only helps if you need to protect your phone from strangers for a short period of time. For example, if a mobile device does not have such protection, and if it suddenly remains in the workplace in the office, strangers may well use it by looking at photos or reading correspondence. To prevent this from happening, there is a password lock, which can be enabled in the settings of the Android operating system. In order to do this, you need to launch the “Settings” application on your mobile device, and then, after that, open the “Security” section. The submenu contains the “Screen lock” section, which must be opened.

In this menu, you must select one of five protection options to choose from, one of which assumes the complete absence of any protection. If you select “No”, then pressing the unlock button will immediately open the screen. If you select “swipe across the screen”, when you press the button, the lock screen will be displayed first, and to access the data on the phone, you will need to swipe in any direction. The “Pattern” option assumes the use of a pattern to protect the phone, which is the simplest protection. You can also select “PIN-code” and “Password”, and if the former can consist of only numbers, then the latter can also include text characters.

Which method of protection to use is already a personal matter for everyone, but the most reliable method of protection is “Password”, and the least “Pattern”, but the last option is much faster and easier to use.
