All iPhone and iPad models run the iOS operating system, although recently this is not entirely the case. For several years now, Apple has been releasing a slightly modified and modified version of iPadOS specifically for its tablets, that is, a platform specially adapted for tablet computers, which has, for example, support for mice and trackpads. However, both of these operating systems are almost identical, therefore, the methods of solving certain problems with their help are the same. Not all users of smartphones and tablets from the “apple” corporation know how to enable the word check function by activating the spelling checker.
In fact, this can be done easily, but it is important to take into account one nuance. With the release of each new version of the iOS operating system, Apple updates dictionaries in Worldn, English, Ukrainian, as well as in other languages, so the newer the platform, the better and more accurate the spellchecking system will work, which, of course, must be taken into account. Currently, as of January 2021, the word checking system works best on iOS 14, and in the second half of the year, with the release of iOS 15, it will become even more accurate and efficient, so it will be even more useful. In order to enable the spelling checker, that is, spelling, you need to launch the “Settings” application and go to the “General” section.
In this very section there is a subsection “Keyboards” that you want to open. Then, to make the spell checker work as efficiently as possible and as less intrusive as possible, turn off the Auto-Correction setting and turn on Spelling. All other functions should be turned on or off as you wish, but so that the keyboard on the iPhone or iPad screen does not take up so much free space, you should also turn off the Predictive Typing option. Since the dictionaries are stored inside the iOS (iPadOS) operating system, the spellchecking system starts working immediately after activation, and it can function without an Internet connection, which makes it possible to use it offline.
Spelling checker works in all standard and third-party apps for Apple smartphones and tablets, unless the developers of these have deliberately blocked the possibility of correcting errors and typos. After typing some text, if certain words contain errors, a red bar will appear under these words. To correct them, it is enough to lightly click on the highlighted word once, after which the options for the correct replacement will be displayed next to such word on the screen. It should be understood that this function is aimed at the general user, so dictionaries on the iPhone and iPad do not know all words in Worldn, especially when it comes to some complex, like medical terms. After clicking on one of the suggested correct spellings, the manually entered misspelled word will be replaced with the one automatically suggested by the system.
