Adobe, known around the world as a provider of various content creation tools, will continue to actively expand the functionality of its software and gradually increase its potential. Especially a big stake is placed on the Photoshop photo editor, which has been on the market for more than 30 years, since the release of its first version happened in 1990, when only a few personal computers could afford, because then they cost a fortune. Almost every year since then, developers have released new versions of this graphics editor, adding new functions and capabilities to it, and at the same time improving the old ones.
As everyone probably understands and realizes, it is impossible to improve the quality of a photo by increasing its resolution, because in this case, the clarity will disappear, and the details will become blurred. You can only lower the quality, but not raise it in any way. Nevertheless, modern technology has made such a procedure possible, and Adobe has been able to prove it. The graphics editor Photoshop for working with photos and images has been updated to a new version, which added the function of stretching without loss of quality. It allows you to increase the quality of a photo by four times, that is, you can make a high one from an initially low resolution without losing quality.
The new feature is called Super Resolution, and it is available in a plug-in called Adobe Camera Raw (ACR), which is available to all Photoshop users. The newly launched feature works very well, quadrupling the quality of photos. In fact, it allows you to turn any low-quality image into a high-quality one, and this is done by artificial intelligence, supplemented by a neural network. All images processed using the “Super Resolution” function contain a minimum amount of artifacts, have clear contours and details, as well as a high degree of detail for all objects. The new technology, developed by Adobe, is based on a dedicated model of advanced machine learning.
To make the new opportunity work very well, the company had to train it on millions of photographs of a wide variety of objects. From a 12 megapixel image, you can get a 48 megapixel photo, thereby increasing the original resolution by four times. Super Resolution is currently available for all Photoshop users through the Camera Raw (ACR) plug-in, but it contains one important limitation. You cannot increase the resolution of any picture more than four times, and the maximum should not exceed 500 megapixels. Currently, according to independent experts from the PetaPixel resource, this function of improving the quality of photos without degrading the quality is the best on the market.
