Netflix is working on a TV series based on The Elder Scrolls

Netflix has a number of game adaptations planned for this year. In addition to Castlevania and The Witcher, the service will release series based on Resident Evil, The Last of Us, Assassin’s Creed, Splinter Cell, Cyberpunk 2077 and a new cartoon about Sonic. Recently, the insider of the film industry, Daniel Lichtman, shared with sponsors on Patreon that Netflix is also working on a series based on The Elder Scrolls universe.

Of course, this information is unofficial, but Lichtman gained fame precisely because all his insights were later confirmed. According to the author, there is no detailed information about the series yet, as it is at the concept stage. The game developers will take part in the adaptation. Lichtman assures that Netflix is not going to save on this franchise, and plans to make a large-scale fantasy series, which will eventually pick up the baton of The Witcher.

Considering that the TES universe has a large chronological and geographical scope, this topic is practically non-existent. The creators of the series can move away from the main narrative of the cycle, and tell completely new stories with distinctive and vivid characters.

Interestingly, Bethesda is currently working with Amazon Prime on a Fallout adaptation. It is handled by the film crew of the Westworld series, led by Jonathan Nolan. The question arises: why would Todd Howard cooperate with a competitive streaming service in such conditions, when Amazon Prime itself is ready to film the universe of The Elder Scrolls in order to compete with The Witcher from Netflix.
