Rising Hollywood star Timothy Chalamet will star in the prequel to Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. He will embody on the screen the hero of all the sweet tooth, the famous Willy Wonka. Earlier it was reported that the young chocolatier could be played by another, no less recognizable film actor, Tom Holland, known for the films about Spider-Man of the Marvel studio. However, the rumors were not confirmed, the creators chose Chalamet. They said that a pleasant surprise awaits the fans of the actor: Chalamet will personally perform songs and dance in the upcoming film.
The novel by Roald Dahl, based on which the cult film was shot, tells the story of a boy from a poor family. He receives the “Golden Ticket” and gets on a tour of the Willy Wonka chocolate factory, where he can taste the most different and unusual sweets. The film by Tim Burton has already shown fragments from the life of a chocolatier, but in the new musical “Willy Wonka” his story will be fully revealed.
The prequel to Tim Burton’s film will be directed by “The Adventures of Paddington” author Paul King. The musical is produced by David Hayman, co-creator of the Harry Potter films. Laureate of the Cannes Film Festival Yorgos Lanthimos shoots a new picture based on the novel “Poor things” by Alasder Gray. The Greek actor, screenwriter, theater and film director is known all over the world for his unique and unusual works. The films “Favorite”, “Fang”, “Killing a Sacred Deer”, “Lobster” were nominated for “Oscars” several times and brought the filmmaker many prestigious awards.
Alasder Gray’s postmodern novel reimagines the story of Frankenstein’s Monster. In Poor Things, a surgeon resuscitates a drowned girl, Victoria Blessington, by transplanting the brain of a child she was carrying. Waking up, the heroine begins a new life, while her consciousness corresponds to the transplanted brain of the embryo. Suddenly, the girl meets her ex-husband Aubrey Blessington, through whose fault she drowned herself.
The lead roles will be played by Mark Ruffalo (Isle of the Damned, The Avengers, The Illusion of Deception) and Emma Stone (La La Land, The Favorite, Birdman). The script for the film will be written by Tony McNamara, who worked on the TV series The Great and Lantimos’s film The Favorite. The creators plan to start filming at the end of the summer, the release date of the film is still unknown.
Two-time Best Actor Academy Award winner Kevin Spacey will star in The Man Who Drew God, directed by Franco Nero. This is the first time the actor has appeared on the screen since accusations of sexualized assault in 2017. He will play the secondary role of a police detective, and the director himself will play the main character, a blind artist accused of pedophilia.
Nero’s film tells the story of the rise and fall of a creator who has the ability to paint portraits of people only by their voice. Despite the scandal around Spacey, the Italian director still considers him a great actor and is very glad that he agreed to take part in the film.
Recall that in 2017, Anthony Raple and about 20 other men accused the Hollywood actor of sexualized violence. In Raple’s case, he was 14 years old at the time of Spacey’s harassment. In response to the testimonies of the victims, Kevin apologized, and then confessed to his homosexuality. On this, the actor’s career in Hollywood ended. Due to the scandal, the actor lost his role in the Netflix series “House of Cards”, and Ridley Scott re-shot scenes with his participation in the movie “All the Money in the World.”
