Twitch Removes Blind Passage Tag That Offends Visually Impaired People

Streaming service Twitch has removed the “Blind Playthrough” tag due to complaints from some users who find it offensive to visually impaired and blind players. This was announced by the director of work with the community of streamers Erin Wayne.

“I am delighted to see that Twitch management has listened to everyone who has requested that the Blind Walkthrough tag be removed in favor of a more inclusive language in our community,” Wayne writes.

She added that instead of the removed tag, the First Pass tag can be used in conjunction with the No Spoilers tag. It is worth noting that activists defending the rights of people with disabilities have long insisted on the abolition of this tag. According to them, the expression is perceived by the blind and visually impaired as discriminatory.
